The following paper examines and puts together statements of the Red Cross Movement as to the illegality of nuclear weapons under the 1996 ICJ Advisory Opinion, drawing a bow from the general acknowledgement of the Advisory Opinion without exceptions, over the efforts towards a legally binding international agreement and the catastrophic consequences on human health and the environment, towards growing difficulties to envisage (any kind of) IHL compatibility.
